Ref 6960 - Large 19th Century Antique French yellow glazed terracotta confit pot in good condition. These pots were mainly used  in the Southern France to preserve meats like duck or goose for dishes such as cassoulet or foie gras. The lower parts were left unglazed, as the pots were half buried in the ground to keep the contents cooler and fresher. Some cracks and small chips as you would expect with an item of this age. A very decorative item which can be used for floral displays or converted for use as a lamp base.
