8038 - 19th Century Antique French oil on canvas portrait of a French gentleman (Citus-Alfred Besnou, doctor of medicine, 1808 - 1850). Signed and dated F Laurent 1847.  Unrestored with one repair to bottom right of canvas (see close-up). On original wooden stretcher with original handwritten details of his life dated 11 May 1850.  He is buried in his hometown, Villedieu, in Northern France.
